CONCEPT RESEARCH

Nocturnal Wanderings, inspired by “nocturnal” Japanese night-time photographers Liam Wong and Masashi Wakui, who exclusively specialise in low light photography. Their work has a nostalgic yet futuristic glow, which gives both soothing and unnerving ambiance. The stillness and emptiness captured causes a feeling as though the whole world is asleep. This leads to the concept of insomnia explored, drawing on Mark Rice-Oxley’s account of the disorder being conveyed through the colours and prints in the collection.
